Egger creates forestry team

1 March 2014

Egger has expanded its forestry services in the UK and appointed Simon Hart as business development and compliance manager for Egger Forest Management.

Mr Hart, who has more than 25 years' experience in the forest investment sector, joins Egger after nearly 30 years with UPM Tilhill. He is a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Foresters and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Three forestry managers have also been recruited. Dave Robson, formerly with UPM Tilhill, will manage northern England and south-east Scotland, while Gavin Mann and Sam Booth, formerly with Fountains Forestry, will be responsible for the rest of Scotland.

"In the UK, Egger has been involved in timber harvesting for more than 20 years and currently harvests in excess of 500 million tonnes a year," said Egger UK financial director Bernd Steinlechner. "This is an important step forward for Egger, as it means we can now offer a full service to forest and woodland owners."
