Environment minister promotes real trees

Forestry Commission Scotland is encouraging people to de-stress from the bustle of Christmas shopping and take a break in the forest to choose their festive tree.

Scottish environment minister Michael Russell, who launched the FC’s real Christmas tree campaign at Glenbranter, said combining a healthy walk in FC forests with choosing a tree would be a natural stress reliever during the busy festive period.

“Choosing your real Christmas tree is a chance to bring a little bit of the forest into your home and there’s nothing like the smell of a real tree to add a festive feeling,” he said.

Forestry Commission Scotland sells around 15,000 Christmas trees each year at sales centres around the country.
