FFIF appoints new energy and infrastructure head

The Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF) has appointed Jouni Punnonen as director of the energy and infrastructure division.

The appointment takes effect on August 8 and he will replace Stefan Sundman who is joining UPM-Kymmene as vice-president, corporate relations and development for energy and forest businesses.

Mr Punnonen holds a Master’s degree in engineering and he previously worked as corporate relations manager at Teollisuuden Voima, before which he served as the chief energy policy adviser for the Confederation of Finnish Industries EK. Before this, he performed a variety of energy-related tasks at Kymmene Oy.

“Jouni Punnonen is very experienced in the handling of energy- and climate-related affairs and associated lobbying. He is knowledgeable in the effective wielding of influence in related matters on both the national and the EU level,” said FFIF director-general Timo Jaatinen.
