Finnforest helps drywall trainees

Finnforest has supplied a quantity of its engineered timber FinnJoists to British Gypsum's Drywall Academy training centre near Loughborough.

Trainees will be able to fix British Gypsum's wall, ceiling and partition systems to the FinnJoists, giving them firsthand experience of the type of structure they might encounter on a job.

“The FinnJoists help to elevate the experience for contractors who come here for training courses,” said John Brown, technical support manager at British Gypsum.

“By using a system they are likely to encounter on a project, whether this be a new build development or a refurbishment, trainees are able to hone their practical skills more keenly than simply by learning the theory.”

Mark Baillie, Finnforest's general manager for building systems, agreed. “Increasing awareness of the different components of a successful construction project is important to developing core skills that can enhance the overall quality of a finished project,” he said.
