Finnish exports top €950m in October

5 January 2011

Finland’s forest industry exports were worth €950m in October, according to the Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF).

The value of exports for January-October 2010 was €8.9bn - 22% more than during the same period of 2009. The exports accounted for 16% of the country’s overall exports.

However, FFIF said the industry’s operating environment must continue to develop and regenerate in order for exports to thrive in the future.

“Factors of particular importance for the operating environment of the forest industry are the supply and price of wood and energy, functioning and cost-effective logistics as well as the availability and cost of labour,” FFIF said.
