Finnish forestry refocuses research

7 December 2009

The Finnish forestry sector is updating its research strategy to reflect changes in the operating environment.

The revision, which is expected to be completed in 2010, will be more responsive to new challenges that have arisen since the strategy was first published in 2006.

“Our research strategy examines how the forest-based sector would develop under different scenarios and identifies the research and development needs that arise out of these situations,” said Christine Hagström-Näsi, CEO of Forestcluster.

“The updated research strategy instructs the industry on how to focus its joint research projects in accordance with the changed operating environment.”
