Finnish paper strike ends

The Finnish paper strike has ended after the Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF) accepted the national conciliator's settlement proposal to create a collective labour agreement for salaried paper industry employees.

Strikes have been held in a number of Finnish paper mills over recent weeks, including UPM and Stora Enso.

The solution includes a 1.5% general increase and a 1% item, which is subject to company-specific negotiations.

The new collective agreement is valid for the period May 19, 2011 to March 31, 2012.? ?
