Finnish timber organisation in "renewal"

23 September 2010

Finland’s leading timber industry organisation is being “renewed” as it seeks to better meet the challenging needs of its work.

The operations of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF) will be divided into four sectors from the start of October.

The divisions are labour market, forests and environment, energy and infrastructure, and business environment and innovation. Forests and environment will represent the industry’s interests with regard to sustainable forestry, environmental issues and trade policy.

Three segments will be formed within the business environment and innovation division – paper, paperboard and process goods, wood products and new businesses.

“The environment in which we represent the interests of the forest industry is constantly evolving, and the allocation of resources must from time to time be adjusted to better march the chaning needs of our work,” said FFIF director general Timo Jaatinen.
