Flooring giant Barlinek doubles Romanian output

Polish-based timber flooring producer is doubling the output of its Romanian factory next year.

The company acquired Romania’s largest solid wood flooring producer to set up Barlinek Romania SA in 2008 and last year produced 250,000m² at the plant.

It is now investing in a new production line, with work due to start in the new year, which will boost output to 500,000m². It is expected to reach full capacity in the second quarter.

Director Marek Janke said the move was a response to growing demand for its Romanian-made products.

“We knew that interest in solid floors was increasing and when we started production in Romania last year, the high quality of its output made an immediate impression, not only in Poland, but also abroad,” he said.

Barlinek also opened a factory in Ukraine in 2007. It’s total output is now around 9 million m² a year, mostly comprising its engineered products.

It sells in around 50 countries.
