FSC establishes national office “ambassadors”

14 July 2010

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is establishing national offices in each country to become ambassadors for the certification scheme.

FSC Working Groups that have signed co-operation agreements with FSC International now become FSC national offices, effectively consolidating the relationship between FSC International and its national representations.

The agreement expands and clearly defines activities and responsibilities of national offices, ranging from developing national forest management standards to participating in public policy development processes and ensuring stakeholder engagement and support.

FSC Germany has become the first FSC national office during a signing ceremony in Essen. More FSC Working Groups have since signed the co-operation agreement and FSC International expects all Working Groups to become national offices before the end of 2010.
