FSC Russia starts awareness campaign

15 October 2009

FSC Russia in collaboration with WWF Russia has launched a campaign to increase recognition of the FSC certification brand in the country.

The campaign is thought to be the first of its kind to promote responsible timber production and consumption in the country.

Focus groups are being targeted to raise awareness of the ecological, social and managerial differences between certified and non-certified forestry operations, with the aim of increasing recognition of the FSC logo from current levels of around zero to between 3-8%.

In partnership with Tetra Pak, IKEA, Mondi, NLK Domostroenie, Kinnarps, Kahrs and Homegart, FSC Russia aims to facilitate the growth of FSC-certified products in the mid and long term.

More than 21 million ha are now FSC certified in Russia, representing 18% of FSC-certified forests globally.
