Germans use Accoya to make world record window

18 August 2010

Guinness World Records has certified a window made from Accoya modified wood as the largest timber window in the world.

Baumann Holzhandel GmbH commissioned students from the German Academy for Glass, Windows and Cladding to construct the window last month.

Professor Klaus Layer of the Academy said his students showed intelligence and passion in constructing the window. He said the project achieved its objective of proving there were no limits in size or possibility when working with wood.

“Using Accoya wood for the world’s largest window is great testament to the legitimacy of high technology wood as a material for use in applications where weathering, durability and thermal conductivity are a must,” said Sylvie Froger, marketing manager at Accoya brand owner Accsys Technologies.
