Graingers ships timber to Turkey

7 December 2010

Grainger Sawmills has shipped the first four containers of a €1.5m timber order from Turkey.

Graingers director Susan Grainger said the timing of the KD timber Turkish order was highly significant for the company at a time of the year when there is usually a fall in orders for construction products.

“Gaining the the Turkish order against formidable international competition was a real coup for us,” added managing director Niall Grainger.

“The contract is a vital element in our long-term strategy to grow export markets for Irish timber.”

He said the order was obtained through contacts built up over recent years.

The sawmiller already exports timber products to the UK, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
