Growth at the Port of Garston delivers 15 new jobs

Associated British Ports (ABP), the UK’s leading ports group, and its partners has announced that recent growth at the port has resulted in 15 new positions at the Port of Garston.

The new contract with ABP and Seacon (SG), a UK port based terminal operator specialising in the handling of forest products, led to four additional positions and the expansion of Long Rake Spar’s facilities at Garston Docks has translated into another five full time roles. Long Rake Spar is the largest importer of specialised decorative aggregates in the UK.

ABP has increased its operations team by a further four and the engineering team has doubled from two to four to support the expansion plans at the Port.

“I am delighted to see that ABP’s investments at the port are not only attracting more business to the region but also creating and supporting local jobs,” said Brian McFarlane, Garston port manager.
