29 November 2008

Finnish Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC) certification has been approved by the Dutch government as meeting its sustainability requirements.

PEFC-certified wood from Finland now fulfills the requirements for Dutch public procurement. The German PEFC system has also been approved.

Central government agencies in the Netherlands have committed to only using certified wood from 2010.

The government also recently approved the Forest Stewardship Council certification system against its timber procurement criteria.
