Irish timber gets showcase

24 November 2009

An eye-catching exhibition space featuring home-grown and US hardwood has helped reinforce the credentials of Irish timber.

Commissioned by the Wood Marketing Federation, Woodspace at the November 3-5 PlanExpo-EcoBuild construction trade show in Dublin was designed to promote wood construction, preservation, furniture and other uses with timber sourced in sustainably managed forests.

Launching the exhibition, Irish minister of state Tony Kileen said it was “a tribute to Irish craftsmanship and illustrated the vibrancy of the Irish forestry and forest products sector”. The exhibition featured Sitka spruce from the Murray Timber Group, Irish-grown decking timber from Glennon Brothers, OSB from SmartPly and tulipwood and red oak promoted by The American Hardwood Export Council.
