IWSc merger comes into effect

The merger between the Institute of Wood Science (IWSc) and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM³) came into effect today.

IWSc president Geoff Taylor announced the news to members of the London Hardwood Club while speaking on “What future for education in the timber trade?” at its latest meeting at London’s Honourable Artillery Company today.

The new group is called IWSc – The Wood Technology Society and will be based at IOM³ in Carlton House Terrace, London, with staff due to transfer on July 31, before its offices open on August 3.

IWSc senior vice-president and former wood for good managing director Charles Trevor will be the new chairman of the group.
