Jamey French receives honour

Jamey French, CEO of US company Northland Forest Products Inc, is to receive an honour from his home state of New Hampshire.

He will receive the Eileen Foley Award which each year is given to a New Hampshire (NH) resident who has dedicated their life to “making the world a better place”. The award recognises Mr French's industry and community work.

He is well-known nationally and internationally for his knowledge of and dedication to sustainable forestry and green building issues. He has also chaired three industry national trade associations, including most recently the DC-based Hardwood Federation, as well as serving on the US board of the Forest Stewardship Council.

Mr French is also on the board of the NH Chapter of The Nature Conservancy; the DC-based Land Trust Alliance; the Québec Labrador Foundation; and the National Wildlife Federation Action Fund. He also serves on the board of the Foundation for Seacoast Health.

He is the past chair of the Society for the Protection of NH Forests; Strawbery Banke Museum; the community campaign to restore the Market Square Steeple; and a founder of the Portsmouth Music Hall.

He has also served on numerous other state and regional boards. He served was treasurer and later vice-chair of the NH Charitable Foundation and also a Trustee, and later chair of Portsmouth Trust Funds for 17 years.
