JELD-WEN football helps cancer charity

13 September 2012

JELD-WEN raised £1,300 for a cancer charity at the company’s first employee football tournament held recently at Sheffield Football Club.

More than 150 staff supported or played in the tournament, with four teams – two from Melton Mowbray (stairs and windows factories), one from Penrith and one from Sheffield (door production factories) taking part.

The Melton Stairs team was the overall winner. Best team conduct went to JELD-WEN Sheffield and Man of the Match to Adam Isherwood from Melton Frames.

JELD-WEN suppliers, including SCA Timber, Brooks Bros, Finewood Marketing and Plaut International, provided raffle prizes to raise money for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity.

“This was a great opportunity to bring staff together from our different factories in an exciting day of football.

“We are delighted to have raised so much for such a worthy cause,” said JELD-WEN managing director Mike Ward.

“We’d like to thank our suppliers for their generosity in donating raffle prizes and for all the staff who played or supported for making it such a memorable day.”

Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield is one of only four dedicated cancer hospitals in England.
