John Brash launches scaffold board

17 August 2006

Participation in a major health and safety study has prompted John Brash & Co Ltd to add to its scaffold board range.

The Gainsborough-based company and other scaffold board manfuacturers took part in the study in collaboration with timber consultant TimberSolve and the Health and Safety Executive. Around 300 boards were tested at Brighton University.

The testing was initiated to review the safety of traditional 38x225mm scaffold boards, more than 70% of which are of a generic industry standard known as grade “A” or 1.2m span boards. Many are produced to variable in-house grading or to no specific grade.

Following the study, a review of the relevant standard BS 2482:1981 is now under way.

John Brash has used the research information to launch its Alpha + board, which the company says has clearly defined grading and performance levels.
