Joinery boss wins Cumbrian Businessman of the Year

Sean Parnaby, managing director of West Port Timber Windows & Doors and chairman of the Wood Window Alliance (WWA), has been named Cumbrian Businessman of the Year at the CUmbrian News Group Business Awards.

Mr Parnaby, who took over the reins of the WWA in July, faced stiff competition from Andy Hooper of Westlakes Engineering, and Peter Barton of Forge Europa, but was singled out for transforming Maryport-based window and door firm West Port into one of the fastest-growing businesses in Cumbria.

“West Port has customers all over the UK, but we are not as well known in our own back yard as I would like so this award is very important to me as it enables us to take a step closer to achieving a higher local profile," said Mr Parnaby. "I’m also extremely pleased to see that quality timber window manufacturers are now being recognised as key business players which play a crucial role in the local economy."
