Joinery firms quizzed on training

4 June 2007

The Woodworking Industry Training Forum (WITForum) is to quiz 3,000 joinery firms on their attitude to training, apprenticeships and skills provisions in the sector.

WITForum, which was launched by the British Woodworking Federation (BWF) last autumn, is to send out a training survey to joinery and other woodworking firms in order to ascertain the right kind of training and skills is being delivered to the industry.

“We want the industry to have a stake in its own future by working with us to help training provision and ensure that trainers provide students with the right kind of skills for the industry,” said WITForum training manager Helen Donald.

Ms Donald added that the results and feedback generated by the survey would be “extremely valuable” in developing future training programmes and helping to look after the future of the woodworking industry.
