Kennedy supports Wood for Gold

18 December 2006

Former Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy is one of the latest MPs to add his name to an early day motion supporting the aims of the Wood for Gold campaign.

Some 82 MPs have now signed the motion “Wood and the 2012 Olympics”, proposed by Paddy Tipping MP.

The motion recognises the benefits of wood as a sustainable construction material and supports Wood for Gold's efforts to make the 2012 London Olympics a showcase for the wood industry.

It also applauds the campaign's bid for wood to play its part in helping to deliver the most environmentally sustainable Olympic Games ever.

Wood for Gold is a joint initiative backed by Wood for Good, The Timber Trade Federation, British Woodworking Federation, TRADA, ConFor, UK Forest Products, UK Timber Frame and Glulam Associations. It has an initial budget for the next two years of £100,000.
