Kingspan Lighthouse wins international praise

31 October 2008

One of the sustainable homes built in the BRE Innovation Park has been recognised by the International Architecture Awards.

The Kingspan Lighthouse has been named as one of 114 buildings in 38 countries to be recognised by the awards, which are designed to reward innovative architecture and are judged by a panel of prominent architects, including representatives from the American Institute of Architects.

The Lighthouse was also the winner of the inaugural TTJ Achievement in Engineered Timber Award last year.

It uses Kingspan Off-Site’s TEK build system in its construction, using structural insulated panels to improve thermal efficiency and lower its CO2 emissions.

The International Architecture Awards are organised by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies.
