Klausner reduces production at Holz Bayern

17 December 2008

German sawmiller Klausner Group is to temporarily reduce production at its Holz Bayern mill in Bavaria.

Klausner said the measure, which involves a gradual production decrease for a period of six months, was a reaction to an ongoing decline in prices and consumption of sawn goods, as well as higher German log prices.

The move is also designed to safeguard the 170 employees at Holz Bayern, located in Lansdsberg am Lech.

“Klausner will take up production again following the development of the international markets and in agreement with our business partners,” said a Klausner Group spokesperson.

The company has already introduced a six-month phased production cutback at its Klausner Nordic Timber mill in Wismar.
