Lambson acquires Laminated Products

Lambson Building Products Ltd has consolidated its position in the decorative panels market by acquiring Laminated Products Ltd for an undisclosed sum.

Castleford-based Lambson, which supplies flat sheet vinyl or foil laminated decorative panels, is now in the process of moving its staff and machinery to Laminated Products' site less than a mile away.

The addition of Laminated Products' MDF furniture profile components and assembly operations helps Lambson, which sells products to the leisure caravan, modular home and boat building sectors, to provide a complete package of services to its customers.

Glenn Monkman, Lambson's managing director, said the company was spending a significant amount of money in refurbishing Laminated Products' site, on top of an earlier investment in its own production machinery.

He said Lambson was relocating because the company's leased site was being sold for residential development and the close proximity of Laminated Products enabled the jobs to be kept in the area.

Mr Monkman said: "Both company's brands of products are already strong and well established throughout the UK and Europe and it is now our intention to move forward with our plans to develop a new consolidated product base and operational centre in Castleford."

He said Lambson would continue to invest in equipment and facilities.
