Last push for Big Challenge

6 September 2004

The Big Challenge conference, which will highlight the opportunities for the timber trade presented by the UK's drive towards sustainable construction, has struck a chord with the industry.

According to wood. for good, the co-organisers with the Building Research Establishment, there has been a very good take-up of places for the September 20 event. In fact, it urges anyone interested who hasn't booked a seat to act now.

"There's been a very good response from a wide spectrum of companies across the timber industry," said wood. for good managing director Charles Trevor. "There are still places available, but anyone who is thinking of going or may have missed announcements should reserve places now rather than be disappointed."

Speakers at the conference, which will take place at the BRE's headquarters in Watford, include ex-Forestry Commission director-general David Bills; James Mayers of the International Institute for Environment and Development; Stuart Goodall of the Confederation of Forest Industries; Bryan Woodley of the UK Timber Frame Association; Peter Bonfield of the BRE; Andy Cosh of construction consultancy Calfordseaden; Richard Tipper of the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Management; and Mike Packer of Timbmet.
