Lathams sets out certification guide

A "commitment to sustaining forests throughout the world" has prompted timber and panel distributor James Latham to produce a guide to environmental certification schemes.

As well as outlining James Latham's strict environmental policy, detailing certification schemes such as the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification and the Forest Stewardship Council, the guide shows how the company follows a chain of custody when buying products.

Chairman Roger Latham said: "It is very important for us to produce a guide like this for our existing and potential customers, because as a company we take our responsibility to the environment very seriously.

"By buying in products from well-managed forests and condemning illegal logging practices we are helping to do our bit towards ensuring the sustainability of forests and eco-systems."
