Lockerbie mill installs new lubrication systems

5 December 2012

James Jones & Sons Lockerbie sawmill has installed new Stenner lubrication systems for its bandsaw lines.

Lockerbie production manager Brian Thompson turned to Stenner with a brief to improve the cleaning and lubrication system at the mill so production capacity could be maximised.

An initial system was fitted on the first quad bandsaw for a 30-day trial period. Results after 10 days persuaded James Jones to order Stenner lubrication system retrofits for its remaining bandsaws.

“We have made a substantial investment in a state-of-the-art bandsaw-based sawmill and we were not fulfilling the potential,” said Mr Thompson.

“Now that we have largely eliminated the cleaning and lubrication issues we have reduced our downtime significantly and are exceeding our production targets on a regular basis.”

Stenner’s range of spray lubrication systems is now in its third generation and uses vegetable oil.
