Trevor Maddison has joined ITW Industry as software developer with responsibility for upgrading and developing roof truss software.

Mr Maddison began his career with 11 years at British Coal, training as a mechanical engineer. During that time he completed a degree in mechanical engineering and achieved a Mining Mechanical Engineer Certificate enabling him to take legal charge of any British mine installation. He also completed a nine-year management training programme.

He also holds an academic award from the Institute of Mechanical Engineers for outstanding research in developing a mathematical model and computer software for geometrical modelling of specialised intersecting surfaces.

After leaving British Coal, Mr Maddison began developing CAD software based on his geometric modeller for the sheet metal industry. His first product - Sheet Lightning - was realised in 1990 and since then he has developed software for industries ranging from heating and ventilation to construction and automotive engine design.

In 2007-2008 he took a break from software development to write and obtain an international invention patent and government research funds to develop an electronic scope for bow fishing. He also wrote two books - philosophical material and a comedy novel.
