MDF gets training boost

20 May 2005

MDF mouldings manufacturer W Howard Ltd says its ongoing training workshops have helped builders merchant customers grow their sales.

Manchester-based W Howard, which makes the Primer Mould range, launched the workshops at the end of 2004 after its research found some merchants were still unclear about MDF's qualities and benefits, despite many customers converting from timber in the last 10 years.

Ced Piper, W Howard business development manager, said: "The workshops are proving highly useful in imparting greater product knowledge and helping merchants to better advise their customers as to the range and specification of the products on offer."

Sessions, aimed at anybody from internal sales staff to field sales managers, involve Powerpoint presentations and a question and answer session.

Pat Burke, Arnold Laver Timber World's group purchasing director, said the training had proved "extremely valuable" in growing the company's MDF moulding sales.
