New Disneyland Paris hotel’s MDF exterior

9 January 2010

A new hotel built to serve Disneyland Paris utilises 700 Medite Exterior MDF panels.

The Relais Spa Val d’Europe, built in the Haussmannian architectural style by Bouygues Construction, took three years to build and opened at the end of 2009.

Specialist woodwork fittings company SMAB completed the exterior façades in natural stone, plaster and wood, with 700 of Coillte Panel Products’ FSC-certified Medite Exterior MDF being used in 15mm, 18mm and 22mm thicknesses. The panels range in width from 1.5-3.7m and are 1.1m high.

Painted grey, the panels incorporate raised patterns which create depth and rhythm effects.

The hotel, a new concept in hotels incorporating purely apartments, features 220 short-term let apartments over six floors, a brasserie and a 1,100m² spa.
