New managing director for MGM Timber

31 March 2011

David Mansell has been appointed as managing director of MGM Timber (Scotland) Ltd.

He succeeds Scott Cairns who is the new managing director of parent company James Donaldson & Sons. The new roles are effective from April 1.

Mr Mansell has worked at MGM for the past 19 years, and became financial director for the company in 2002.

He will be supported by sales director Brian Smith and business development director Grant Wilson, as well as MGM’s 13 branch managers across Scotland. Sherry Stephens has been promoted to the role of divisional accountant and will be taking over Mr Mansell’s finance role.

Mr Cairns said MGM was a “fantastic business” and he was delighted to be able to remain involved in the company in his new role at James Donaldson & Sons Ltd. “We have exciting plans for the future, and I look forward to seeing the business grow from strength to strength under David’s management,” said Mr Cairns.

Strong end of year results in 2010 saw MGM become the largest independent timber merchant in Scotland.
