NHBC reports “promising” signs in housebuilding market

21 December 2012

The latest housing stats from the NHBC has revealed “signs of promise”.

The rolling quarter September to November saw a 7% growth in new home registrations, compared to a year ago.

A total of 26,420 new homes were registered compared to 24,731 in the same period during 2011.

But the overall total for 2012 (until the end of November) is lagging behind at 99,160, compared with 109,850 in 2011 (10% decrease).

“2012 has generally not lived up to the hopes we held for it,” said Richard Tamayo, NHBC commercial director.

“However, as we approach its end there are signs that activity is picking up.”
