North West TTBS celebrates Christmas

18 December 2012

More than 100 timber traders attended the North West region Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society (TTBS) Christmas lunch held at the Adelphi Hotel, Liverpool on Wednesday December 12.

Special guest, TTBS general manager, Ivan Savage speaking after the lunch, thanked the attendees for their continuing loyal support of the timber trades' own charity and reported on the many letters and cards inundating the TTBS office from the UK beneficiaries who had received their Christmas hampers and Christmas payments in the first week of December. He also advised the attendees of the Winter Warmer fuel grant that would be paid again in March 2013.

Mr Savage also took the opportunity to thank the North West Committee for their exceptional fund-raising throughout 2012 and their staging of the Masquerade Ball held at the Liverpool Anglican Cathedral in November. In particular, he thanked Barbara Cartwright of AB Lewis Ltd and Claire Mountford of W Howard for the major role they had played with the planning and organisation of the ball.

Ivan Savage was presented with a cheque for £15,000 by John Taylor, North West TTBS president from proceeds from the North West 2012 events.

After the lunch, the attendees were entertained by Southport comedian Jed Stone.
