NPPD dinner raises record funds for TTBS

14 November 2014

This year’s TTF National Panel Products Division annual dinner raised a record £2,765 for the Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society (TTBS).

The donation was made through a table collection at the dinner, held at the Radisson Blu Hotel in London on November 12. The collection was organised by Nina Grundy from the Timber Trade Federation.

TTBS general manager Ivan Savage said the charity’s support to beneficiaries would not be possible without the timber trade’s efforts. “At this time of year we are particularly heartened by the response from our many UK beneficiaries, who will shortly be receiving their Christmas hampers and Christmas payments which bring them so much cheer during the festive season,” said Mr Savage.

“Also, we will be shortly be informing our beneficiaries that we will once again be paying a fuel grant of £300 early in March 2015, which will allow them to keep warm during the worst of the winter weather.”

The TTBS fuel grant was on top of the fuel grant paid by the State and gave beneficiaries peace of mind during the December to March period, he said.

This year the TTBS has increased the Christmas payment from £100 to £150 and it also recently increased its Quarterly Allowance payments from February 2015.

“None of this would be possible without the continued support from the trade and on behalf of the trustees and the board of management, I would thank you all most sincerely,” said Mr Savage.
