PEFC China publishes English-language update

30 September 2008

The Chinese office of the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC) has published an English-language newsletter after requests from stakeholders for information on its work.

PEFC China’s first quarterly newsletter includes details of its work with NGOs, forests owners and the wood products industry, as well as collaborative work with the State Forestry Administration of China.

It also details conferences and shows within the last year that PEFC China has had a presence at, including the 2007 PEFC Annual General Assembly, the EU-China Forest Law Enforcement and Governance conference and the China and the Global Forest Products Trade: Trade of Legal and Sustainable Wood in China seminar.

“In the near future, we will further increase the resource input in the PEFC promotion work in China and expand the network in forestry and the forest products industry,” said PEFC China director Benson Yu.

“We believe that through our continuous efforts PEFC will be a leading forest certification scheme in China.”
