PEFC double for civil engineering firm

6 October 2007

Ipswich-based Jackson Civil Engineering has become the 500th UK company to be awarded Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) chain of custody certification, as well as the first major contractor to receive the award.

PEFC UK said that Jackson Civil Engineering has “demonstrated a commitment to responsible sourcing of raw materials” and that PEFC’s endorsement of more than 200 million ha of forest, a milestone achieved in August, has “greatly increased the availability of certified timber” to such companies.

Jackson Civil Engineering added that it was “committed to sourcing its timber from sustainably managed forests”.

“We are proud to demonstrate our support for sustainable forest management by increasing the amount of timber we use, which can be traced back to forests certified to a credible certification standard such as PEFC’s,” said Jackson Civil Engineering’s environmental manager Steve Livingstone.
