PEFC gaining increasing public recognition in Belgium

Belgian consumers are increasingly recognising what a PEFC-labelled product stands for, PEFC Belgium has found from its appearance at exhibitions.

"The efforts made in informing the Belgian public about what a PEFC labelled product means has been a real success, with more and more consumers looking for and recognising products that come from environmentally-sound sources," said Vanessa Biebel, secretary-general of PEFC Belgium.

She said the number of businesses obtaining PEFC certification was continuously increasing, even in times of economic hardship,.

The organisation exhibited at Hout en Groen Wonen, on November 7-8 , where it highlighted the importance of building sustainably. It was also due to attend Prowood, an industry specific exhibition on November 10-14.
