PEFC UK up for review

7 October 2006

The PEFC UK certification scheme has been submitted to the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification schemes (PEFC) Council for re-endorsement.

During the next six months the PEFC UK scheme will be reviewed by a team of independent consultants on behalf of the PEFC Council. There will also be a time of consultation.

PEFC UK's scheme is divided into some eight sections which describe the history and background to forestry in the UK and the basis of the scheme using the UK Forestry Standard (April 2004), the UK indicators of Sustainable Forestry and the UK Woodland Assurance Standard.

National PEFC schemes are reviewed every five years.
