Production starts at North America’s biggest MDF/HDF plant

The largest MDF/HDF factory in North America started operations in North Carolina on February 17.

The 400,000m³ Moncure-based Uniboard facility, is part of parent company Pfleiderer AG’s “mega-site” concept, designed to create cost and competitiveness advantages due to higher efficiency.

Chipboard production capacity of 300,000m³ already exists on the site.

Now the Moncure site can cover customers’ requirements from raw chipboard to surface-finished panels to MDF/HDF, allowing customers in the major US market of the southern and mid-west states to be supplied directly at competitive prices.

Uniboard produces an average of 1.6 million m³ of chipboard, MDF and HDF every year, sold through wholesalers and retailers to the kitchen, furniture, building and refurbishment sectors.
