Quiz night tests timber IQ

3 May 2011

Some of the finest brains in the north-east timber trade were collected together under one roof recently for a quiz night in the Sir Bobby Robson Suite at St James’ Park, the home of Newcastle United Football Club.

Nearly 40 people enjoyed an evening of head-scratching and flashes of genius along with liquid refreshment and a welcome break for a pie and pea supper. The event raised nearly £100 for the Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society, with the prizes kindly donated by BSW Timber.

Teams from MH Southern Ltd, Gill & Robinson Ltd, Robert Duncan Timber Products, BSW Timber, James Latham, Tweedside Timber, Joseph Thompson, JF Potts & Son and Rowlinsons took part.

In a hard-fought contest the team from Gill & Robinson in Newcastle – Ian Robinson, Chris Davidson, David Bland and Joan Grant – emerged as winners.
