Responsible purchasing a must, says TTF

Responsible sourcing is a business must for firms looking to take advantage of the growing trend towards timber, Timber Trade Federation (TTF) chief executive John White has said.

Mr White told the London Hardwood Club that there are now "many strong commercial and moral reasons" for responsible sourcing, including improving financial results and meeting customers demands.

"We know that responsibly sourced wood improves your bottom line," said Mr White.

"Customers want to deal with companies they know are responsible and which have a strong reputation for being so."

Mr White added that the TTF's Responsible Purchasing Policy and the Timber Trade Action Plan can play a big part in helping companies ensure their products are well-sourced and sustainable, a topic that will remain important for the foreseeable future.

"The issue is top of the global political and corporate agenda and looks set to remain there," he said.
