Saint-Gobain Building Distribution says the planned closure of its central distribution centre in Hednesford will not affect the supply of timber and sheet materials.

The company said the centre distributes non-timber products to its Jewson stores. Timber is supplied through Jewson Internal Timber Supply’s distribution depots at Hull and Newport.

Saint-Gobain said the closure, which will result in the loss of 74 jobs, is aimed at reducing overall supply chain costs and creating a more flexible service in an increasingly competitive environment.
