Sawmiller’s housing arm progresses first UK project

17 December 2013

The first UK timber frame apartment block for Swedish sawmiller Vida’s housing division is nearing completion.

The block at Rainham in Kent is the first of three blocks being erected on the site and when completed will house 52 rental apartments.

Vida’s timber frame manufacturing division Villa Vida fabricated the panels at its Växjö factory and shipped them to the UK.

Villa Vida has an exclusive 10-year agreement to produce Winchester-based Climate Energy Homes’ certified EcoTech build system Vida bought the timber frame manufacturer in 2011 as a step to develop and adapt the sawmiller’s timber products to the factory-produced timber frame houses market.
