SCA Timber Supply UK has made four appointments to its management and business development teams.

Toby Lewis has been appointed head of sales – merchants services. He has held several senior sales and marketing positions, most recently with Danzer and Kronospan, and in his new role will be responsible for leading the merchant services business development team and will also manage relationships with buying groups.

Simon Thurman has been promoted to group procurement manager, responsible for co-ordinating purchasing across SCA’s three business streams. He has had several positions at SCA and has good knowledge of UK and Swedish mill operations, as well as experience in timber processing.

Ken Reidy has joined SCA as account manager for Wickes and is part of the SCA distribution solutions operation based in Stoke. He previously worked for Metsä Wood UK.

Ted Osborn has joined the merchant services team as business development manager covering the south. He was previously with Arnold Laver.

SCA has also appointed a new quality assurance and control team across its three sites.

The team will focus solely on the maintenance and development of existing processes and procedures to ensure the quality of SCA’s products is in line with commercially agreed standards.

Headed by quality assurance manager John Buffel, the team comprises quality assurance co-ordinator Richard Inskip, and three quality control co-ordinators at each site – Dave Griffiths, Stoke; Peter Scott, Welshpool; and Craig Kirby, Melton.

The team, which will work to ISO 9001:2008, will cover the whole supply process from inbound goods through to manufacturing processes and outbound deliveries.
