Second BSW mill achieves WPA Benchmark certificate

21 February 2013

A second BSW Timber sawmill has achieved a Wood Protection Association (WPA) Benchmark certificate for production of the company’s easipost15 treated and incised timber post.

The certificate relates to production of easipost15 at BSW’s Newbridge-on-Wye sawmill, which has recently installed an incising machine to produce the easipost.

WPA director Stephen Young said BSW’s achievement underlined the growing demand for timber treated in accordance with the WPA scheme.

“This second external approval for our newly launched easipost15 and the direct result of our innovative approach to incising timber are being well received in the market as the season kicks in,” said Alex Brownlie.

BSW director and head of business development. Mr Brownlie said the response by its competitors to enter the incised timber post market “supported the progressive actions BSW Timber took in the early days”.

The easipost15 is certifcated to deliver a minimum service life of 15 years, with products carrying the WPA Benchmark logo to give customers assurance of product performance.
