Setra to cut jobs at timber frame subsidiary

20 January 2012

Setra’s timber frame construction subsidiary Plusshus is cutting 20 jobs at its Arvidsjaur factory after seeing 40% market decline.

The facility specialises in the manufacture of exterior and interior walls, joists and roof element for prefabricated single-family homes.

“Construction of single-family homes and terraced houses has declined by approximately 40% during the past year at the same time as market share for box units for larger projects within this segment has decreased,” said Nils Clausén, managing director of Plusshus.

Despite increased marketing, the order outlook remained “highly uncertain,” he said.

The company is still trying to find new projects and alternative areas of operation for the factory so it might not have to implement the redundancies.

Plusshus also has production facilities at Kristinehamn and Skellefteå.
