Setra to increase redwood mill capacity

23 March 2011

Setra has announced a two-phase investment at its Skinnskatteberg redwood sawmill which will increase production capacity to 350,000m³.

The SKr60m first phase, which will take place at the end of this year, will involve a new sawmill trimmer. A second phase in the summer of 2012 will see an extension of drying capacity.

The mill’s current output is 250,000m³.

“The investment in Skinnskatteberg is in line with our strategic focus to streamline the business and achieve a geographic concentration of production in Setra’s core areas in central Sweden,” said Setra CEO Börje Bengtsson.

He said Setra was planning additional “assertive” activities, both at Skinnskatteberg and at other units in order to be able to meet future customer demands in an effective manner.

Setra has 10 sawmills, three independent processing units and two prefabricated building factories in its subsidiary Plusshus.
