Sikkens offers potato protection

25 August 2009

Sikkens Cetol BL21 plus coating has been chosen to protect the Douglas fir cladding of Potato Wharf – two new eight-storey residential apartment blocks in Manchester. Three coats of Cetol BL21, which is an alkyd/acrylic coating, were applied over a fast-drying base coat of Cetol Onol Primer.

“Cetol offered the best match to the bare timber and one that would accommodate the material’s natural weathering,” said Marie Garland, project manager at architects MBLA.

“Additionally, the environmental credentials of the coating matched our very stringent requirements, helping us to attain a very good Ecohomes rating,” she added.
